From White Castle to the White House, and now back again. Actor Kal Penn, best known as Kumar in the Harold and Kumar movies, is leaving his job as associate director of public engagement with the Obama administration. We’re not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that a new Harold and Kumar movie is coming out this Christmas. The move was first reported by Entertainment Weekly but was not immediately confirmed by White House officials. Press secretary Robert Gibbs said he hadn’t heard about the departure. The Lavin Agency, which represents Penn, declined to comment.
Penn most recently starred in the Fox show “House.” He abandoned his acting career in 2008 to work in the Obama White House. Penn had campaigned for Obama as a celebrity surrogate from the Iowa caucuses through Election Day.
In my opinion, this clip is the funniest scene in Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle :
