The new Kanye West “Theraflu” song has been getting plenty of attention, good and bad. The latest hit from West discusses both Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries in it, and has been noticed by both Twitter and PETA.
Kanye’s new track will be part of an upcoming G.O.O.D. music collaboration album, which also features Common and Pusha T among others. The newest song is currently available for listening to (with DJ Khaled screaming on it) on West’s website. So far it’s been getting some good responses from other celebs on Twitter, including basketball stars and “trill” rappers.
NBA star Steve Nash, a former two-time MVP who plays for the Phoenix Suns, posed the question, “Theraflu or The Don?”
The other song is the latest offering from rapper Nas which has received plenty of praise from fans all around the hip hop universe.
Fellow rap star Bun B tweeted that he has “Theraflu. On repeat.” Later tweets suggested that he, or a fan, were trying to find a clean, DJ-free version of Kanye’s new track. Some have tweeted such a version on Twitter already, including DJ Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97.
Meanwhile the “tell PETA my mink is draggin’ on the floor” line has got the attention of, you guessed it, PETA. A report from karencivil.com says that PETA Senior VP Dan Matthews commented:
What’s draggin’ on the floor is Kanye’s reputation as a man with no empathy for animals or human beings. He’s a great musician but doesn’t seem to have the fashion sense to design anything more than caveman costumes. We keep hoping that one day he’ll find his heart and join evolved style icons—including Russell Simmons, Pink, and Natalie Portman—who have dropped animal skins.
Fair enough. It seems PETA was quick to respond to this hot new track from Kanye, which after all is just a song. While he mentions Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian, and Amber Rose in the same song, those three have yet to speak out. Then again, just think of all the people Eminem mentioned in his songs. It’s all in clean fun, right?
