It’s true. Kate Gosselin was just one of many models at New York Fashion Week to strut her stuff on the runway Wednesday evening. The former star of TLC’s Kate Plus Eight and Jon and Kate Plus 8 was even deemed delightful to work with.

Kate Gosselin - Reading, PAAccording to a report from The Huffington Post, Kate signed on to volunteer her time for the ‘Real Fashion, Real Women’ show.

“We reached out to Kate’s people, and they came back right away and said yes. She loved it,” the show’s host and organizer, Derek Warburton, says. “Kate is so nice, sweet and accommodating and cool. She started writing us directly.”

Warburton admits, however, that once word got out about Kate doing the show, the backlash was instantaneous.

“We have all been in Twitter wars about Kate,” says Warburton. “They were attacking us for having her in the show. I responded saying, ‘Listen, we are not paying her. She is doing this out of the goodness of her heart.’ What’s remarkable is every time we get a nasty tweet about Kate, she writes and apologizes. She doesn’t care about the haters, but she cares about us, the charity. She must have apologized to me five times for what people say about her.”

Does this sound like the same Kate Gosselin that both reality fans and naysayers have either defended to the nth degree or hated with a passion? It’s the very same Kate!

How nice to hear something positive about Kate for a change, and to also learn she’s done something for charity that doesn’t involve a huge kickback for herself as well.

This is the kind of example the former reality TV star needs to set more often for her eight impressionable and somewhat disillusioned children who were raised against the backdrop of reality TV–don’t you think? Isn’t this better than Kate reaping the benefits of kind businesses using her name in exchange for free goods and services? By doing this, Kate is teaching her kids that giving is exactly that–you give. And you neither expect nor get anything in return.

Kudos, Kate!
