Showing poise, elegance and beauty, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, gave her first official speech to a crowd of Malaysians in attendance at a hospice care facility in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The speech marked the first time the Princess spoke, in her official capacity, to a foreign audience.
The speech, addressing the efforts of the Hospice Malaysia movement, was well received by the appreciative crowd, and spoke to a cause important to the Duchess’ heart, the care of terminally ill children.
Worldwide press covered the event and reactions were enthusiastic, noting her poise and obvious, growing confidence at public speaking, and appreciative of the fact that Kate Middleton would choose such an important, meaningful cause to enter the world stage upon.
Wearing a lovely, powder blue formal summer dress, with half-sleeves, the Duchess looked at beautiful and at ease, but serious as she pointed out the important efforts, not just in Malaysia, but worldwide, of those devoted to giving palliative care to the sickest of children.
Prince William was nearby and beamed with obvious pride and genuine affection. The first official, overseas speech by the Princess bodes well for the issue, and for herself personally.
On all fronts, it was a rousing success.
