James Murphy, a teacher living in Kemp, TX, has been arrested for the sexual assault of a student. His full name is James Michael Murphy, he’s 37 years old, and should know better.

The Agriculture instructor at Kaufman High School was arrested Tuesday, August 23, 2011, and is accused of having an improper relationship with a minor student this past spring. A female student claims the sexual assault took place from March 2011 to May 2011.

Apparently, Child Protective Services was notified, and CPS are the ones who told the police.

Sheriff David A. Byrnes has been quoted by Fox News as saying “The safety of children always comes first and we investigate all complaints that come from CPS vigorously.”

James Murphy has been charged with “two second-degree felonies: improper relationship between educator and student, and sexual assault of a child.” Today the accused is free on a $50,000 bond while the case is investigated. The girl’s name and age were not in the report.

What is wrong with all these teachers lately? There have been a ton of Texas teachers in the news for molesting and sexually assaulting children. ABC Family’s show Pretty Little Liars, which is also a popular teen book series, seems to make having an affair with a teacher cool. Parents need to tell their kids that it is not cool to get involved with a teacher, and to let them to know if anything inappropriate happens. The girl in this case was sexually assaulted for months.
