Kellan Lutz — Emmett Cullen of the Twilight films — has signed on to play Poseidon in the new Greek mythology film War of the Gods.
It’s been a busy couple of years for the god of the sea; having withstood the box-office disappointments of The Poseidon Adventure remake of 2006 and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, that efficiently-named flop of earlier this year, the Big P will next be seen in the Clash of the Titans remake, opening April 2, in which he’ll be played by Danny Huston.
War of the Gods follows Theseus, a young warrior who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods. Also appearing are Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto and Henry Cavill, who played Charles Brandon in The Tudors. Directing is Tarsem Singh, of The Cell and The Fall, so it’ll probably be visually stunning but fairly nonsensical, story-wise.
