Kim Kardashian waited too long – after the wedding – to call it quits with Kris Humphries when she felt it in her gut beforehand that marrying Kris was not the right decision. Kim’s friend Kelly Rowland defends Kim for her decision to divorce her husband even though they had only gotten married 72 days before. Kelly said she and her ex-boyfriend, Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys, nearly walked down the aisle before it was too late.
Kim Kardashian is certainly not the first person to realize she was married to the wrong guy – unfortunately, it happens quite often. It’s just that Kim is getting so much heat about it because of the spectacle she made of her wedding – that her wedding to Kris Humphries should be the American version of the royal wedding. Millions of dollars were spent, feelings of family and close friends got hurt, and in the end, the marriage was wrong.
Kelly Rowland’s engagement was called off by her then-fiance – two months before the wedding and on the same weekend Kelly covered a magazine wearing a wedding gown – ouch! Kelly said, had it been her decision to make, she would have gone through with the wedding. “I wanted that wedding. I wanted to be married,” Rowland said.
Roy Williams said, “I sat her down on the bed and said, ‘Kelly, we don’t know each other well enough to get married.’ At the time, she was cool with it, but I ended up catching a lot of heat for doing the grown-up thing.”
Like Kim Kardashian, Kelly was humiliated. Rowland said, “I was so embarrassed. I didn’t even want to go out of the house and I really didn’t want to put my family in the position of having to answer questions about the wedding.”
There is a big difference between Kim and Kelly’s situations, however – aside from the fact that one relationship ended before the wedding while the other is ending in a fast divorce. Kim Kardashian’s wedding made money – for E! and for her family. Kelly might be able to relate to her friend Kim, but their situations are far from the same.
