Reality TV show royalty Kim Kardashian may be, but she’s definitely not Duchess material—at least not yet. And although rumor had it that the Keeping up with the Kardashians diva was recently trying to wriggle her way (or at least her designs) into Buckingham Palace, only to receive quite the royal snub from Kate Middleton, E! has come to the rescue of its own reigning reality princess, stomping away the gossip that Kim got smacked with a career-shaking insult.
Kim and her sisters, Khloe Kardashian Odom and Kourtney Kardashian, recently introduced their Kardashian Kollection at Dorothy Perkins in London, England. Alongside that launch came reports that they sent quite the package of free garments to Middleton, only to have them all mailed right back with the Duchess of Cambridge declining (politely, of course) such an offering.
While it’s not too far fetched to think that the enterprising sisters might try to wrangle their clothes onto the back of Middleton, who has become quite the influential stylista, E! has confirmed that they did no such thing.
“Kim was working the whole time [in London] and though she admires Kate, she didn’t reach out to her,” a source close to Kim said. So it looks like if Middleton is going to wear the Kardashian Kollection, she’ll apparently be doing so unprompted by any Kardashian PR efforts. Or maybe she’ll develop an affinity for Kanye West’s designs, instead…
In all seriousness, though, the most that Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton really share in common is the letter “K.” There’s little chance that Kim, who often opts for the curve-flaunting, the figure-clinging and the fashionably provocative, is dressed to impress the likes of Middleton, whose taste trends more on the sophisticated, less skin-baring side.
Somehow the Kardashian Kollection seems out of place in Kate Middleton’s closet of esteemed British designers the likes of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, not to mention Temperly London and even the more accessible, but still highly sleek Reiss.
