Kim Kardashian (and her manager mother, Kris Jenner) is one heck of a businesswoman. Not only is she likely one of the only brides to actually manage to make money off of her wedding – from selling the rights to the first photos and stories to TV coverage deals – but now she’s also going to be marketing a replica of two of her three Vera Wang wedding gowns to everyday brides, at the (reasonably) affordable price of around $1600 each!
While many brides consider their gowns to be sacred items, frequently paying the big bucks to clean and store them away, Kim Kardashian sees her gowns more as a way to continue the neverending flow of income into the Kardashian-Humphries household. And let’s not forget Kris Jenner’s ten percent she’s entitled to as manager, as she frequently reminds Kardashian fans on the family’s hit reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
The two gowns that will be made available to the public – at least in a similar, cheaper fashion – include the more classic-style ball gown that Kim walked down the aisle in, as well as the mermaid-style dress she donned after the ceremony for her first dress with new husband, NBA player Kris Humphries.
While what percentage Kim Kardashian will be entitled to has been left unsaid, it seems highly unlikely that she wouldn’t get a piece of the pie, with the caliber of businesswoman she is.
Would you consider purchasing either of the gowns for either yourself or your daughter? Which of the two of the gowns that will be for sale in the David’s Bridal Vera Wang collection do you like better? The classic ballgown, or the more modern, mermaid fit gown? Do you think that Kim Kardashian is making a smart business move by selling replicas of her gown, or does it take away from the sanctity of the dress?
