Kirstie Alley recently announced to the world her amazing weight loss.  The former “Cheers” star known for being a heftier actress lately, lost an astounding 50 pounds and is quite proud!  Seen in the photo here in March of 2010, a recent Twitter message with picture showed off her slimmer self.

Kirstie was part of the reality show on A&E called “The Big Life,” which looked at her struggles with the excess weight.  She also worked with Jenny Craig up until 2007, and then regained a lot of weight, over 80 pounds.  Recently though, she’s dropped over half that weight.  According to reports she used her own weight loss methods to do it.

According to New York Daily News, Alley recently sent out a proud tweet announcing “I’m having the time of my life….30 more (pounds) to go!”

Her tweet reads:

“I’ve lost over 50 lbs…and I’m having the time of my of my life…30 more to gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo”

Alley showed off her new slender self too with a picture of her in a stunning red dress along with some “friends”:

Kirstie looks amazing and seems to be “returning to form,” not that added weight made her any less of an actress.  However she’s joining many other female celebs who have won the battle of the bulge, including Marie Osmond, Valerie Bertenelli and Angie Everhart.  Kudos to Kristie for committing herself to the weight loss, she’s been the butt of many unnecessary jokes, but now she can have a laugh at their expense!
