Klyde Jones Leaving Average White Band to Join Daryl Hall?

Yesterday fans of Average White Band (AWB) were told that long time keyboard/bass/guitar player, Klyde Jones, would be leaving the group in order to spend more time with his family.

It would be an understatement to say that fans were surprised at Jones’s sudden departure but now people are wondering if Klyde is leaving himself free to join Daryl Hall’s band.

It’s been no secret that the keyboard/bass/guitar player has worked with Hall’s band for some time now. He was even heard playing on Hall’s newest solo CD, “Laughing Down Crying.”

Just because the official announcement said that Jones was leaving AWB because of the “grueling travel schedule” doesn’t mean that he would be averse to traveling with Hall’s band.

Klyde Jones wouldn’t be the first member of AWB to move over to Daryl Hall’s group; other musicians who ended up with Hall are Eliot Lewis and Brian Dunne.

Facebook fans are speculating if Hall will let someone go from his band to make room for Jones and most people suspect that if Hall lets go of anyone it might be Eliot Lewis who also plays keyboard and guitar.

Lewis was suspiciously missing when Hall recorded “Laughing Down Crying” while Klyde was there. Lewis explained on his Eliot Lewis and Friends Facebook page, “Hey guy’s I just wanted to respond, I didn’t play on his CD because he really didn’t need me which I totally understand.”

“Paul [Pesco] and he did all of the guitars and of course Daryl is a fine keyboard player so he and his producer [Greg Bieck] who is also a keyboard player had that covered. He did bring in a few players who play other instruments that he doesn’t play. I was flattered that he asked me to do some of the photography for it and asked me to sing on the new theme song for the TV version of LFDH [Live From Daryl's House].”

“Hope that clears that up. See you soon, El”

But fans are still wondering if Hall is going to be making big changes in his band now that his 18 year-old step-daughter, March Fry, is suddenly recording with him and making appearances with Hall.

Fans of AWB, Daryl Hall, Eliot Lewis, and Klyde Jones will have to wait and see what will happen next.

Here’s a video of Jones playing with “Average White Band.”
