Kristen Stewart–Why Did Charlize Theron Call Her A Child?

Why did Charlize Theron call her Snow White and the Hunstman co-star Kristen Stewart ‘a child?’ Was she being condescending to the Breaking Dawn star? Given Kristen’s excellence and hard word in all the Twilight films, and her recent accomplishments filming Snow White, Theron really has no right to talk down to her at all.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, it seems the remark was made during an interview Charlize Theron did with Vogue. At one point while talking about Stewart, she had the following to say.

“She just turned 21. She’s a child,” Theron said.

Now if Theron were 65 or 70 years old she might in fact qualify to call Kristen a child. But at 36 years old? The comment really sounds a bit rude and yes–condescending. Could Charlize Theron be jealous of Kristen Stewart? Is her recent string of successes in some way threatening Kristen Stewartto the more seasoned actress?

Kristen Stewart has been front and center in the media for the upcoming Twilight film Breaking Dawn for quite some time now. In fact on Monday night, she will walk the red carpet with co-stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and more at the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Worldwide Red Carpet Premiere. She likely won’t appear like or act like a child in the least at this prestigious event. In fact, she almost always appears sophisticated and sexy at these red carpet events.

Sometimes celebrities say things that they wish they could take back. Maybe this is one such time for Charlize Theron during her interview in Vogue. Her comment certainly doesn’t make anyone regard Kristen Stewart any differently, but does raise the question of why she would say such a thing about her Snow White and the Hunstman co-star.

What do you think? Do you believe Charlize Theron’s comment about Breaking Dawn star Kristen Stewart meant to be insulting or was it purely an ‘off the cuff’ remark?
