Is Kristen Wiig leaving SNL? It appears so after having been a regular cast member of Saturday Night Live for the last seven years.
During the last sketch of SNL’s season finale, the actress wore a cap and gown as guest host Mick Jagger acted out the part of a high-school principal at a graduation. During the sketch, Wiig’s character was said to be the “one particular student who is leaving this summer.”
The actress then danced with cast members, Jagger, and SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels to “She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones’. Suddenly she became emotional and was visibly holding back tears as she was joined by the full SNL cast, including past cast members Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm.
They all sang on the stage during the closing moments of the show to “Ruby Tuesday,” another song by the Rolling Stones. As the cast got to the “Still I’m gonna miss you,” line in the song, Wiig began to cry as she pointed toward the crowd.
At this time, NBC has not officially announced if Kristen Wiig is leaving Saturday Night Live, but it certainly seemed that way. A recent article states Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg are also rumored to be leaving SNL as regulars.
