Lady Antebellum Win Record of the Year, Song of the Year at Grammys

Lady Antebellum were the big winners at the Grammys tonight, even though only a handful of country music artists were nominated, to begin with.

The power trio, having garnered the Best New Artist award at the Grammys just last year, swept the bigger awards categories this evening, taking home Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Country Album and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. (By the way, if you’re wondering what the difference is, Song of the Year is a songwriter’s award, while Record of the Year is for the actual recording.)

Lady Antebellum’s smash hit “Need You Now” was behind the bulk of their awards, having been one of the most popular and played songs on the radio this year. Oddly enough, the group performed the single at last year’s Grammys. Foreshadowing?

What did you think of their performance tonight? Did you feel that their wins were deserved in each category?
