On April 19, best friends Crystal Thornton and Christina Tugman attended Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball show, held in Nashville, Tennessee. While Crystal and Christina did make it to the concert, things didn’t necessarily go as planned.
During the first act, Thornton suffered a seizure, ending up on the ground unconscious and without a heartbeat. Tugman ran to get help and had a paramedic at her best friend’s side within a minute or so. Paramedics were able to resuscitate Thornton after about five minutes using a portable defibrillator. Afterward, Thornton was rushed to the hospital and was listed in stable condition a few days later. The cause of the seizure was apparently an undetected genetic disorder.
The Monster Ball Tour started on November 27, 2009 and will end on May 6, 2011. So far, the tour has earned over $130 million with almost all shows sold out. By the last show, there will have been a total of 201 performances done by the pop singer. Critics have praised Gaga’s performances throughout the tour.
Thornton’s biggest gripe with her entire experience is simply that she missed the Monster Ball and seeing Lady Gaga’s entire performance. Sure, that might seem a little trivial after her experience, but she is definitely a die-hard Gaga fan. She will no doubt see Lady Gaga at the very next opportunity. Hopefully, Gaga will give both Thornton and Tugman a pair of free tickets to a future show. The only thing that really matters is that Thornton is in stable condition without any major problems.
