Once again, Lady Gaga has left teen idol Justin Bieber face down in the dust, along with Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, and even President Barack Obama. Yes, once again the Mother Monster has broken a record. La Germanotti is the “first Earthling” ever to acquire 12 million followers on Twitter.

On Thursday, July 28, 2011, Lady Gaga broke her own previous record by acquiring a whopping 12,079,517 followers. She sprinted out ahead of Never Say Never teen heart-throb, Justin Bieber, by 800,000 followers. The Born This Way girl has been a frontrunner in the Twitter universe since 2010 when she broke out in front of then-record holder, Britney Spears. Since then, La Spears has fallen to the lowly position of fifth place with only 8,699,644 followers.

As for the other losers—er—lesser Twitter lights, Justin Bieber is number 2 with 11,358,195 followers. President Barack Obama came in third with 9,363,522, and Katy Perry is in fourth place with 8,708,581. Bride-to-be Kim Kardashian occupies sixth place with 8,604,280 followers, and places 7 through 10 are held by Ashton Kutcher, Shakira, Taylor Swift, and, of all people, Ellen DeGeneres.

Congratulations, Lady Gaga. You go, Meat Mama.

As for the rest of you lazy celebs, get to Tweeting. Tomorrow is another day.
