Lady gaga has officially launched her “Born This Way Foundation” in style by inviting her mom and stars, including Oprah Winfrey, to the launch. The foundation, named after her hit single and album, “Born This Way,” is predominantly aiming to stamp out bullying, a cause which will hopefully be well supported, and with a celebrity as famous as this at the helm, then gathering support is an unlikely problem.
Gaga has repeatedly spoken about her own experiences of bullying and has often stated that everybody is an individual and should have respect. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the singer has chosen to support anti-bullying by giving both her time and her money to the foundation.
Cynthia Germanotta, Gaga’s mother, will act as President of the foundation, which was launched at Harvard University. One of the focuses of the foundation is to have outreach for gay and lesbian youth. “Born This Way” has been adopted as one of the gay anthems for gay pride and empowerment. Lady Gaga took the time to speak to high school students about their own experiences of bullying before talking to a panel of experts in the field.
Bullying is a current topic that many people have personal or indirect experience of, and it can only be of great benefit to this issue to have somebody who is such a great role model to young people promoting such a worthy cause.
