The sports world announced Friday, that two-time Pro Bowl winner Larry Johnson, has been signed by the Washington Redskins. Last year, Johnson was released by the Kansas City Chiefs before finishing the season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Rumors swirl around a new 3 year contract, but no official statement has been released regarding the details of the deal. Coach Mike Shanahan was quoted saying, “We are excited to bring in a running back that has had so much success in this league. Larry is a physical runner who will be a great addition to our backfield.”
Props to Johnson for still pulling in deals; he isn’t the hot ticket that he used to be. Years of causing commotion on the field, and racking up domestic disputes while off, his reputation is a tad tarnished. He’s ruffled some feathers, lost a few deals, and his performance over the past few seasons has been shaky to boot. Compared to his 2006 season of 1,789 yard, and 17 touchdowns, a sad 2009 brought only 581 yards between the two teams, and a big fat goose-egg for touchdowns. Here is to new beginnings at Washington, and hopes to it lasting longer than my prediction of a year.
