Lauren Spierer Update: Parents Doubt Witness Story

Filed in Gather News Channel by on December 13, 2011 0 Comments

When Lauren Spierer vanished in June, there were many different people questioned, and some of the last people to see her gave similar accounts of the night she disappeared. Now, the missing woman’s family has doubts over one man’s account.

The parents of missing 20-year-old IU student Lauren Spierer aren’t convinced that Corey Rossman is being 100% truthful. In fact, they’re rather upset that the young man has refused to have any contact with them. That doesn’t make him look good, and it certainly frustrates the family who are desperate to bring home their daughter.

Corey Rossman was one of the last people to see Lauren before she vanished mysteriously in the early morning hours of June 3rd. He also claims to have no memory of that night, having allegedly been punched in the face during an altercation. He claims that Lauren walked home alone that night and that was the last time he’d seen her.

This account clashes with evidence obtained from surveillance footage and other witness reports wich acknowledge that Lauren was so intoxicated that she couldn’t walk on her own. Video footage shows her being carried by a male companion during a night of partying.

What happened to Lauren Spierer?

“We don’t know (if she’s still alive). We hope she is.” That’s what the missing woman’s parents are saying. However, it’s realistic to say that Lauren is no longer alive. She suffers from a rare congenital heart condition that requires her to take medication regularly. She’s also been rumored to have used cocaine. When you pair cocaine with a heart condition, you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Investigators have researched rumors that the young woman may have overdosed the night she vanished, but the parents don’t believe this is what happened. In other words, it’s highly convenient for Corey Rossman to be suffering amnesia over a span of time that was very specific.
