There is not one but two Snow White films in the works currently, and Lily Collins – perhaps best known for her role as Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side – has been cast as the role of Snow White in The Brothers Grimm version.
Relativity Media, the production company behind the film, announced the casting decision to the public Friday evening. Collins will join The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer on the project (as the Prince), as well as all-around goddess Julia Roberts, who will play the Queen. The film, which remains untitled, is set to start production in May.
So why was Lily Collins picked for the role? Aside from her automatic notoriety (she’s music legend Phil Collins’ daughter), the actress has become increasingly visible in recent years, between her role in the Oscar-winning drama The Blind Side, as well as cameos on Primetime TV shows such as 90210. It doesn’t hurt that she’s visually stunning, pulling off the dark hair and pale skin look without even trying.
The film is set to be released June 29, 2012. Are you excited for it? Are you more interested in the retelling of the Brothers Grimm version with Collins, or for Snow White and the Huntsmen with Kristen Stewart in the starring role?
