A lot of people have been weighing in on the recent events in Egypt. Lindsay Lohan and Heidi Montag were among them. The unlikely pair took to Twitter on Friday to share their opinions on the ever-changing state of affairs in Egypt.
Lohan tweeted, “Congratulations to the people of Egypt. Your voices were heard and you proved that peaceful demonstrations are possible and effective …. X /And I pray Egypt maintains it’s[sic] treaty with Israel and sets the trend for its neighbors to create peace with Israel and the entire region.”
Montag was not as wordy in her tweeting, saying, “So excited for the people of Egypt! You’re making history. Congrats Egypt!”
That either of them would express any interest is surprising, to say the least. Are their expressions even sincere?
In the case of Lindsay Lohan, the tweets could potentially come from a motivation to draw attention away from her current legal situation—as in, “Hey, look! There are more important things in the world than the white dress I wore to court the other day. Even I know that.”
As for Heidi Montag, her tweet seems to be a genuine expression of a desire to chime in with everyone else about a trending topic. She didn’t try to sound too high-minded about the whole matter. Her tweet is more “Go team!” than anything.
Still, whatever Lindsay Lohan and Heidi MontagÂ’s intentions may be, kudos to them for at least attempting to look beyond themselves for 140 or so characters.
