Lindsay Lohan unleashes hysterical fit in prison, earns stint in isolation

Lindsay Lohan unleashed a hysterical fit in prison this week, earning herself a stay in isolation. The outburst was apparently sparked when other inmates began calling Lohan “Firecrotch,” the nickname given her by Brandon Davis.

Lohan only began her jail sentence Tuesday and has already put herself back in the spotlight with the tantrum. According to a story at postchronicle.com, Lohan broke into a stream of tears and shouted at wardens before being whisked away from other prisoners.

If others from the prison quoted in the story are telling the truth, Lohan’s stay has been interesting from the start. The Post Chronicle report quotes recently-released prisoner Cheryl Presser as saying, “She is in with the killers and she has only been let out for hour-long breaks, and during those she was locked down to a table. On Friday, Lindsay got put on lockdown. While some of us got two hours to go to the yard, or the TV room, Lindsay was on total lockdown. She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling so she got put in isolation.”

This, presumably, is what happens when you put a celebrity who is used to being coddled and sheltered into a real-world situation with hardened people. He or she immediately becomes a target from other inmates who no doubt resent her celebrity status, and he or she often has a hard time coping given that their lifestyle is about as far away as possible from the one they are forced to adapt to.

That’s the idea, I suppose. Lohan is in prison so she won’t make the same mistakes again, and perhaps such abuse will be enough to keep her straightened out when she’s released.

More often than not, though, that’s just wishful thinking, and people like Lohan tend to return to old habits.

So what do you think? Will Lohan be scared straight by her time in prison, or is this just another diva incident from a woman destined to relive the same nightmare over and over again?
