The countdown begins for Lindsay Lohan. She will have to report to jail and begin her 90 day sentence on July 20. Lohan is a two pack a day smoker and her friends are concerned for her well being since there is a no smoking policy at the jail where it is likely she will serve her sentence.
A source told TMZ, “I’m honestly scared for [Lindsay] … I don’t think she’s gone a day without smoking in years. This isn’t something she can stop overnight. It’s a serious condition.” A dramatic statement from someone trying to drum up some sympathy for Lohan?
Quitting smoking is difficult, but I don’t think her health is in danger. How many heavy smokers quit cold turkey? Not an easy task, but it can be done. According to WebMd, some of the side effects of nicotine withdrawal include irritability, nausea, anxiety, depression and fatigue. All of which are likely manageable with support. Chances are the jail will have some sort of support group.
These restrictions could be beneficial for Lohan. Some structure and time away from her entourage may encourage Lohan to grow up a little bit. If you wear the words “F**k You” on your fingernails before a judge who is about to sentence you, chances are you have some problems with authority. Until the moment she was sentenced, she may have thought she was untouchable.
