Authorities found a Littleton mall bomb on the 12th anniversary of the deadly Columbine shooting in Littleton, Colorado just two short miles away from the mall. At this point, investigators have not found anything to link the two events other than the date.
Still, what type of person would do something like this? The mall was evacuated after a small fire, and authorities found a pipe bomb and two propane tanks. Thankfully none of these explosives ignited, and there is no word on how much damage they could have caused if the Littleton mall bomb had been successful.
Police continue to search for a motive and a suspect. At this point, there is a person of interest that they want to talk to after reviewing security images from the mall.
Mall employee Cindy Sear said, “I was fine yesterday, but this morning it’s scary. It’s just hard to see that this keeps going on. The same day as Columbine—who would do this?”
It absolutely has to be devastating for the town of Littleton that this happened at all, but for it to be on the anniversary of the Columbine shootings is even more horrible.
Littleton resident and mall shopper, Teresa Rosenthal said, “We have to just keep going. Whoever did this was trying to instill that same fear from Columbine, we can’t let them do that.”
Exactly. This has to be incredibly difficult, but thankfully, this Littleton mall bomb was discovered before anything terrible happened. It is good that the residents have such a strong spirit to continue on in the face of adversity.
