Lollapalooza 2011 “early bird” tickets sold out in an hour.  The annual festival, held in Chicago, is so popular that people bought up the tickets before even knowing who the lineup will be, although Eminem, Muse, and the Foo fighters are three big names that are slated to appear. The official lineup will be announced on April 29.  The festival can hold 95,000 people.

Taking place annually in Grant Park, this year, people can attend Lollapalooza 2011 from Aug. 5-7.  Although the event showcases a few popular names, such as Lady Gaga who performed last year, the event, founded by Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, was created as a way to showcase alternative and grunge bands such as  Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails and Siouxsie & the Banshees.  It was, and is, still the place for indie bands to shine.  Eminem is scheduled to performed this year, but most of the bands will be indie.

For some festivals, it would appear that you need to be in your teens or 20s to truly have an enjoyable time.  However, with Lollapalooza 2011, a wide range of people attend, including parents, who enjoy alternative music, and their children.  Kidzapalooza is a popular place for parents and their kids.
