Lung CT: My Dad’s Appointment

Filed in Gather Health Essential by on October 12, 2010 0 Comments

I’m sorry I’m late in posting this, it’s been hectic around here!  On Friday, the kids and I drove 2 1/2 hours to surprise my parents and my dad’s appointment.  The kids didn’t have school on Friday, so it was a perfect chance for us to make the trip.

My dad had an appointment at 12:00 to have a cat scan done on his lungs.  The kids and I arrived at the hospital at 11:20, my parents arrived at 11:40.  We saw them drive in and were sitting in the main lobby area facing the main doors.  When they walked in, my mom saw us first and the look on her face was priceless!  (Should of had my camera phone ready, but didn’t)

My dad was a couple steps behind her and she turned and smacked him and pointed! LOL!  I’m surprised she didn’t knock him over with her excitement!  :)

My mom checked my dad in, then we walked back to the radiology room.  We sat down at 11:55.  My dad was called back at 12:10 and was finished at 12:20!  Talk about quick.  How often do you ever get in and out of an appointment that quickly?

So, we went out to lunch and visited until 1:45.  Then the kids and I headed back home and arrived home at 4:20.  I’m glad we went down, we made their day.  My dad looked really good too, much better than he’s looked in weeks!  Other than his oxygen tube, he looked like himself!

THE RESULTS:

There is a small amount of water on my dad’s lungs.  They also found a dark spot on the lower part of one of them.  :(  They say it could be a variety of things, so he will be doing to another doctor to have testing done and see what we need to do next.  They are going to call later today with that appointment time/date.

Next Tuesday, they are going to do an echocardiogram on his heart.  Just to make sure everything there is working properly and that there are no blockages of any kind.

Thanks again for al your well wishes, virtual hugs and prayers.  You are all amazing and your support has been a blessing.
