Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Quick — do you know where the most popular travel destination is on Thanksgiving Day? New York City. It’s also a holiday related to lots of travel in general; as families reunite across the country, lots of planes, trains, and automobiles are involved! New York City is the most popular city in the country for Thanksgiving travel for a reason: The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC is an annual event, and 3.5 million people flood the streets of New York to see the Thanksgiving Day parade live. It’s really crowded, and not for everyone (some people get very anxious in large crowds). But the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is such a wonderful, thrilling experience, that I think families should try to take their children to see it live at least once. The excitement of the children (and adults!) as the big balloons, marching bands and floats walk down the parade route is unparalleled. I love Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and while I can’t view it live anymore — having moved across the country — I’m so appreciative of the times I did get to be part of the crowd in NYC on Thanksgiving.
