Make Money Online – Home income profit system scam or real?

While surfing the internet recently, a sponsored link caught my attention advertising for Make Money online jobs.  Since many people are unemployed these days and trying to find ways to make ends meet, why not work online from the comfort of home right?  I currently make money online and decided I should check out what they had to say.  The appealing link took me to a Breaking news report, which at first glance will appear to be an announcement of “New online jobs” in your particular state.  The HTML source code for the site indicates that it determines your particular location and plugs that state name into the news article headline.   Pretty sneaky, not to mention they use the logos of AOL, CNN, MSNBC, USA Today and a picture of Larry King on the front page to lure you in (check it out below).

On that “news article” you can click one of the many links for “Home Income system”.  Of course once you get to that Home income system website, they have a fancy interface showing an iPhone or iPod which allows you to enter your name and address so they can rush your kit to you right away!  There’s not much more info, unless you look down to the small links at the bottom of the page for Terms/Privacy Policy.  Here’s the fine print of what the signup will cost you to get involved with this:

“When you submit your order, you agree to pay the shipping and handling fee of $2.97 for your Road Map to Success and a $39.95 activation fee unless waived; please allow up to two weeks for delivery. After your 3-day trial period, you will be charged a ONE TIME fee of $139.95 for the product that will not be billed again for access to all of the features above. Thereafter, a $4.95 fee will serve as a monthly website hosting and maintenance fee until cancelled.”

Basically, you could end up paying nearly $200 to get started with this special Home profit income system kit.  That’s not to say this is a scam, but it is rather sneaky like many other online offers.  If you’re not careful, you’ll end up paying more than you ever make.  While this kit may contain the materials you need to start making a good monthly income, it’s also noted on the site “Your level of success in attaining the results claimed in our materials depends on the time you devote to the program, ideas and techniques mentioned, your finances, knowledge and various skills.”  I think your level of success in most careers will depend on those things, but as someone who makes money online currently, let me tell you you’re in for a long haul if you expect to see “quick profits” from this system.

To make money on the internet, it takes spending your time and money.  You’ll have to face getting over the learning curve and really working hard to generate the kind of monthly income you’d expect to earn at a full-time job.  And if you’re not spending a lot of time, that disclaimer is right, expect to pay a lot of money for already-built websites, info on how to do things, or paying people to write for you.  That’s the nuts and bolts of how to make money online- do work and lots of it, or pay money to get it done.  Why pay over $200 when you can learn for free online though?
