The home where a Florida sinkhole claimed a man’s life is in the process of being turned down, and it’s said the man’s body will likely never be found. While this is horrific for surviving family members, it is in their best interest and those of emergency personnel to simply raze the building.

According to a report from RadarOnline, Jeff Bush was killed on Thursday when his entire bedroom was swallowed up by the sinkhole. His brother tried in vain to save him and wound up being rescued from the rapidly growing hole himself. The notion of jumping into a rapidly growing hole underneath one’s home in an attempt to save a loved one must have been harrowing. It was no doubt even worse when he realized his attempt was unsuccessful.

Some personal items were removed from the home by rescue personnel on Sunday, including a family Bible, pictures, and even a pink teddy bear. Jeff Bush’s brother, escorted by a police officer, knelt down by a makeshift cross in front of the home and placed flowers there for his brother. He said a prayer before turning to leave. The location to him will no doubt forever be hallowed ground.

This tragedy has recently been heightened by news that yet another sinkhole has been found in the vicinity of this deadly one. It is also located in Florida–just two miles away.

Word of this deadly Florida sinkhole has prompted many concerned calls from people wondering if their own homes might be in peril, the way the one in which Jeff Bush lived was. It is no doubt very disconcerting to wonder if the earth underneath you can crumble and fall many feet inside the earth. It is likely leaving many concerned people wonder if they’re safe in their own beds when they go to sleep at night.

How sad for Jeff Bush’s family that they will never recover his body and lay him to rest in a place of their choosing. Closure won’t come easy for these people in light of this tragedy.
