It appears they’ve finally found their man for the Incredible Hulk role.  Mark Ruffalo is expected to join “The Avengers” cast as the big green monster along with several other notable actors.  Ruffalo will place former ‘Hulk’ star Edward Norton for the Marvel film franchise.

Celebs attend The Kids Are Alright screening at the Sunshine Theater in NYC, NY on June 30, 2010. The film staring Julianne Moore and Annette Bening showcases the chaos ignited when the children of a middle aged lesbian couple seek out their biological father, played by Mark Ruffalo. The news of the Ruffalo deal came via TheWrap, who said the actor would be flying from the East Coast to join the rest of the cast at Comic-Con in San Diego.  On Thursday, director Joss Whedon confirmed to fans at Comic-Con that he’ll be at the helm for the 2012 film.  He’s also one of the guys who favored bringing Ruffalo in as Hulk, as did Marvel production chief Kevin Feige.

Ruffalo will need to do some serious working out to prep for the role, but he’s got the similar Bruce Banner look going on.  Ruffalo’s latest movie role was in “The Kids Are All Right” an indie comedy where he plays a biological (donor) father discovered by his two children.  It shows his acting range, but not his muscle or stunt work.  It’s likely Marvel and the production team will continue to rely on CGI for the actual green monster, whereas in the past the TV series relied on Bill Bixby as Banner and Lou Ferigno as The Hulk.  The big announcement of the movie should happen tonight at the convention, with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury) and Chris Evans (Captain America) expected to be there.

What do you think of the choice of Mark Ruffalo for the part of Incredible Hulk?
