Mary Tornga Update: Is Hubby a Suspect?

Filed in Gather News Channel by on April 15, 2013 0 Comments

Update: The search for Mary Tornga continues with officials taking to aerial means. Helicopters are currently being used in the search for the missing woman, but it doesn’t look like searches are panning out successfully. What’s curious, however, is officials’ refusal to search the river — which is a concern considering she was near the river when she vanished.

“No, we’re not going to put any divers in, heavy current, lots of snags, very dangerous to put boat in. We wouldn’t even know where to begin,” said Grandville Polcie Chief Dan Steer.

Maybe officials have reason to believe she’s not in the water? A shoe was found belonging to the missing woman, as reported previously here on Gather, and officials are working on trying to trace her cellphone. It’s reportedly been turned off, so officials have been unable to track it by calling it.

Could this be indicative of foul play? Was Mary Tornga abducted or harmed in some way? Officials haven’t released any information leaning one way or the other. They have acknowledged, however, that her husband has been cooperative with the investigation. He is not considered a suspect at this time.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that he was the last person to see her, and it is known that the two had been arguing when they left a party together just before she vanished. He claims she got out of their car and walked away — but Mary wasn’t reported missing until later by her family. The details surrounding this case are ominous, to say the least.
