Megan Williams Update: Missing Child Found with Adult Man
Twelve-year-old Megan Williams vanished sometime over the weekend, and her parents kicked their search priorities into top-gear, which led to her safe discovery. This case has a happy ending, but that doesn’t mean irreparable damage hasn’t been done to the pre-teen. Come to find out, she had met a 31-year-old man over the Internet and took off with him. This is just such a disturbing story, and certainly the parents of young girls everywhere should take this case as a lesson in just how careful you must be in allowing your kids online.
Social networking and other forms of online communication is fun. It’s popular among people of all ages. Nonetheless, parents need to pay better attention to their young children when they are forming online relationships. The dangers of sex predators are clear and present, always.
Megan Williams was picked up by police approximately 600 miles away from her home, meaning that this man transported her across state lines to do who-knows-what with her. Who knows if the two hadn’t already engaged in whatever behavior he had in store. The 31-year-old man, Dana Broberg, may have posed as a teenager to lure her to meet him. To be honest, he doesn’t look like 31 in his photos, so he could have pulled off such a feat. Kudos goes to the mother of this missing child for kicking into gear and figuring out what happened. It’s because of her hard work that the girl has been found safe.
