Miapolis ~ Could the World’s Tallest Building Be Coming to Miami?

Filed in Gather News Channel by on January 22, 2010 0 Comments

Miapolis, a city within a city. If one developer gets his wish, Miapolis could become reality.  Guillermo Socarras has been planning this project for years. Socarras’ plans call for the world’s tallest building to be built.  At 3,200 feet, Miapolis would be taller than the just opening Burj Dubai.  Miapolis would include an amusement park, observatory, shopping mall, trade center, restaurants, over 1,000 condos, office space, 792 hotel rooms and a marina.

According to MiapolisCity.com, the building would also be, “self-sufficient, “platinum green” sustainable, environmentally friendly and with a remarkable economic impact leaving no one behind.”

Miapolis, though comes with a set of challenges.  First, Socarras needs to obtain FAA approval.  He is seeking to create a no-fly zone around the area.  Another challenge is money.  Although Socarras is actively seeking investors, billions of dollars will have to be raised.

Here’s a concept video from Socarras’ company:
