Michael Beasley Trade Rumors to Los Angeles Lakers Surface

A Michael Beasley trade interest may involve the Los Angeles Lakers. Beasley getting traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves actually makes a bit of sense, especially because he hasn’t really found a consistent feel for the game this season. Now he could possibly get included in a trade that would net the Timberwolves Pau Gasol and send Beasley to join Kobe Bryant down in Los Angeles.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard states that the Lakers have been looking at Beasley for quite some time and he could definitely become an upgrade at the small forward position. Acquiring Beasley won’t fix the issues that the team has at point guard, but it could surely become a move to get better and younger at the same time. Beasley could definitely help to spread the floor with Bryant and he isn’t too expensive as of now. The Lakers also have a trade exception that they acquired from the Dallas Mavericks for Lamar Odom that could get used in a deal with Minnesota.

Beasley is averaging 12.6 points per game this year, the lowest total of his NBA career. His minutes are also down from the past two years, meaning he is getting far fewer opportunities to help out his statistics. In Los Angeles, Beasley could become the permanent starter at small forward again, replacing Metta World Peace with someone who can actually score in double figures consistently. It all comes down to what Los Angeles could send in return, possibly including a draft pick or two that Minnesota could stock-pile again. Even if Gasol isn’t part of a deal it could still get done, especially because Beasley becomes a restricted free agent at the end of the current NBA season.

Do you think that the Los Angeles Lakers should trade for Michael Beasley? Does it make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves to part with a good weapon on offense?
