Michael Clarke Duncan’s death shook Hollywood, and celebrities didn’t hesitate to show their support at the gentle giant’s funeral. It was a who’s who of stars who attended his memorial service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in L.A. this past Monday. The outpouring of support showed that Duncan wasn’t just favorite of moviegoers–he was also a superstar amongst his colleagues.

According to New York Daily News in attendance at the ceremony were Tom Hanks, Jay Leno, Holly Robinson Peete, Loretta Devine, David Boreanaz, Geoff Stults, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, and Kelly Price were amongst those who performed.

The words shared by Michael Clarke Duncan’s friends couldn’t have been sweeter.

“Just to see such a pure heart and pure kindness, and to see it taken so early,” said Jay Leno. “There are no sadder words than what might have been.”

The Green Mile director, Frank Darabont declared, “No one had a more positive spirit than Michael Clarke Duncan.” In addition to sharing his own thoughts on the actor, he read a letter written by Stephen King in which the author said, “No one has ever done a character I wrote more justice.” Fans of King’s movies and books would likely agree.

However, no one was likely more heartbroken at the funeral than Duncan’s fiancée and contestant on The Apprentice, Omarosa Manigault. MediaTakeOut.com posted this heart wrenching photo of the reality star crying upon seeing his casket.

It seems that what they say is true: Only the good die young. Rest in peace, Michael Clarke Duncan. You will be dearly missed.
