Michele Bachmann and John Wayne Gacy: An Idiot’s Saga

Filed in Gather Politics News Channel by on June 27, 2011 0 Comments

Michele Bachmann has announced her upcoming 2012 presidential bid, but that isn’t what has people talking right now. Hey, it’s no news that she’s a ‘flake,’ but come on. Even this is a little too much to take from a potential leader of the free world. So obviously, Michele Bachmann didn’t literally mean to compare herself to John Wayne Gacy, but that’s not the point.

She did indeed make a major myth faux pas when she returned to her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa — the hometown of notorious serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. When she was there she was sure to lay on the ‘hometown honey,’ by mentioning her roots there over a dozen times during her speech. But one thing she said is not only hilarious, but possibly damaging to her desired presidential bid. In an interview for Fox News she said:

“Well what I want them to know is just like John Wayne is from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit I have too.”

Obviously, Michele Bachmann didn’t really mean she has the same spirit as John Wayne Gacy. She obviously meant John Wayne, the legendary western film actor. However, John Wayne was not from Waterloo. He was from a couple hundred miles away from there, actually. It was John Wayne Gacy who was from Waterloo, where he lured young boys and young men to his home for sexual torture and murder.

So hey, who wants Michele Bachmann for president? Maybe she and Sarah Palin can form a league of airhead candidates and run together.
