Miley Cyrus has to be one of the more adventurous and provocative brides-to-be in young Hollywood. Since becoming engaged to longtime, albeit sometimes off and on, boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, the entertainer has certainly not shut down her skin-baring ensembles, her occasionally crazy antics, or her questionable Twitter posts, which range from risqué pics to revealing her stalker tendencies towards One Direction’s Zayn Malik. She’s also daringly experimenting with some new hairstyles and colors, perhaps figuring out which one she wants to walk down the aisle in. Her latest look is pretty shocking, too, and begs the question: Do even blonder blondes have more fun?
She’s done the super-dark thing and has boasted the uber-long brunette extensions. She’s even toyed with medium-length auburn. But Cyrus surprised many when she went shorter and selected a golden honey hue awhile back, a look that was more grown-up and polished for the pop star. And she astonished again with her blonde color just a few weeks ago. But she must have not been having enough fun, as now she’s having a platinum moment—and it has nothing to do with her record sales.
“Who says @ChrisMcMillan doesn’t color?” Miley Cyrus tweeted along with plenty of photos of herself “getting her hair did” at what looks to be her home. “Oh yeah, Chris himself just for his favorite little angel.” Well, that angel certainly has a bold, bright new halo.
As Daily Mail reports, famous Hollywood stylist Chris McMillan, he of Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel ‘do, made a house call for Cyrus and adorned her with a new cut and color. His scissor skills yielded a cute, perky bob with an edge—this is Cyrus, after all—and his dye job a striking, near-white flaxen hue.
And Cyrus isn’t the only person close to Liam Hemsworth who’s having a blonde moment. His Hunger Games co-star, Josh Hutcherson, recently went back to his lighter hair days, apparently bleaching his roots for the sequel, Catching Fire.
Both the cut and the color is certainly a different statement for Cyrus, but she rocked it out in her Twitpics. She then promptly took her strands from halo status to her now-signature crown: a top knot fashioned high on her head. This look also got its Twitter moment via its own page, Miley’s Bun, with the post, “I think the most important thing a woman can have—next to talent, of course is her hairdresser, @ChrisMcMillan thanks duuuuude.” Yes, the bun tweets. Fun!
