Minnesota Vikings Rumors – Top Quarterback Options in 2014 NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings have won just one game so far in the 2013 NFL season and after another embarrassing loss on Sunday night to their rival Green Bay Packers, it appears Christian Ponder could be out of a job after the year is over. Josh Freeman was signed after his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but taking a quarterback in the 2014 draft is becoming very likely as the team has struggled to score points.

There are a number of good quarterbacks entering the league next year and Bleacher Report writer Mathew Stensrud has suggested that the team looks at drafting Tajh Boyd if available. The senior has dropped down draft boards after a poor showing against Florida State, but his college career has been spectacular and despite not having prototypical size, he is listed at 6’1″, but recent reports have the youngster measuring just 5’11”, he has been very productive and he has the mobility to move around the pocket, much like Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.

Another option later in the draft is Aaron Murray of Georgia. Murray has been solid this year, despite not having a big play wide receiver to help stretch the field. The youngster has faced some tough defenses in the SEC and knows what it takes to play against stiff competition. The Minnesota Vikings need an upgrade in the passing game and despite trying the college ranks for Ponder, they will need to find a signal caller to lead this team for the next few years and these two young men have the goods to succeed in the NFL and help this team get out of the cellar in the NFC North.
