MLB Trade Rumors – Carlos Quentin to Cincinnati Reds?

Cincinnati finds itself in a battle for the top spot in the NL Central and a definite threat for the MLB wild-card spots in the National League, but adding another strong bat in the middle of their lineup and the Reds could become the favorite to represent the NL in this year’s World Series.

The latest from Doug Mead suggests the Reds try to land San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin before the trade deadline. Quentin has played just 28 games this season, but the 29-year-old already has seven homers and 16 RBI.

The Reds need more power and a strong hitter to give some protection to Joey Votto and Quentin has the numbers to offer that insurance. The right-hander has four straight years with over 21 home runs and is a good candidate to fill the needs on Cincinnati’s lineup.

With the MLB trade deadline quickly approaching, look for the front office to make at least one move to acquire another bat and making a deal for Quentin is a solid move that could put this team over the top.
