‘Mob Wives’ Season 1, Episode 2 Recap

Episode 2 of Mob Wives, “The Bitch is Back,” picks up where the premiere left off, but instead of Karen and Renee, it’s Drita and Renee who nearly come to blows over Karen showing up at Carla’s birthday party.

Drita insists she wants to “fix” things between Renee and Karen, but she has a funny way of showing it.  She and Renee nearly come to blows over the Karen incident, but Drita is quite proud of the fact that instead of breaking Renee’s face, she just screams obscenities at Renee until Renee calls it quits and leaves the party.

Renee unloads all of this drama on her son, AJ.  While talking to AJ about the Karen issue, Carla reaches out and invites Renee and AJ to dinner so the two women can discuss what happened at the birthday party.  Renee wants nothing less than an apology from Carla and Drita, but she doesn’t get one.  Renee does admit to Carla that something Karen said to her has really stuck with her and is causing her some inner turmoil.  During their fight, Karen told Renee, “So you were okay with my dad when he may have been murdering people, but you’re not okay with him cooperating.”  This is causing inner conflict for Renee between Karen being exactly right and what her own father will think of her if she once again befriends Karen.

Karen’s ex-husband Junior doesn’t show up when he’s supposed to meet Karen and AJ at the gym so he can spend time boxing with AJ.  While Karen is speaking to her therapist, she has an utter meltdown when asked where she, Renee, fits into the picture with Junior.  Renee replies through sobs, “I never matter.  I never matter.  I never matter.”  It’s obvious that Renee has some real issues that she needs to work through, not just with her husband, but her life in general.

Much of the second episode of Mob Wives deals with Drita’s realization that Lee has been lying to her about how long he’s going to be in prison.  Drita struggles not only with the lying, but also with whether she is going to stick it out once she finds it’s going to be a couple more years before Lee comes home.

Karen’s decided to remain friends with Drita, but to keep her guard up since Drita has “crossed” her once before by marrying Lee, who was Karen’s boyfriend for seven years.  Although it’s not sitting well with Karen that Drita tries to play down the relationship between Karen and Lee, it may not be a smart idea for Karen to cross Drita.  Karen may end up with a broken face.

Mob Wives airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. EST on VH1.
