The most expensive Barbie ever sold was the center of an auction at Christie’s in New York. According to a press release from the famous auction house, “The World’s Most Expensive Barbie” was sold at auction for a mind-blowing $302,500.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - MAY 04: The world's most expensive Barbie doll is on display at the Barbie Basics Collection Launch during Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010/11 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay on May 4, 2010 in Sydney, Australia. That seems like a ton of money for a doll, but this wasn’t just any doll.

Stefano Canturi designed this particular Barbie doll. Canturi, a fine jewelry designer, worked for four weeks to put together this very special Barbie doll. Barbie was dressed in a little black dress, pink pumps, and (here’s what helped jack up the price) a Canturi Jewels necklace. This necklace featured a one-carat Fancy Vivid pink diamond (to match the pumps) and three carats of white diamonds. Ooh-la-la.

Pink diamond? Pink pumps? Sounds like Breast Cancer Awareness Barbie!

The Canturi is donating 100% of the profits from the Barbie to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The lucky bidder, a private collector from Asia.

Most expensive Barbie ever…$302,500, giving to Breast Cancer research…priceless.
