Veena Malik has vowed to return to her native Pakistan, despite being vilified by compatriots for her topless layout in FHM India.
The contretemps is reminiscent of the furor this spring surrounding Sila Sahin, a stunning 26-year Turkish-German actress, who posed for German Playboy. There were many death threats voiced against Sahin’s life, but she lives in Europe, where it is harder to harm her.
In Pakistan, however, Muslim extremists are a very real danger. Is it wise for the sexy actress to return to her homeland? Considering, the Pakistani actress seemed to be mocking her country’s spy agency, ISI, in the photo, she may even be more hated than Sahin was.
The actress maintains she was wearing a bikini top, and the garment was airbushed out of the picture.
“This attitude, I’m sorry, is in the society. When they say they have become modern, grown up, that’s wrong. They still live in the stone age,” Malik said, according to The (UK) Telegraph.
It would be interesting to learn what Sahin thinks of the criticism of Malik. While Sahin stripped completely, Malik is being threatened just for going topless. And, if the Pakistani actress does in fact return to her homeland, how will she handle security?
