Mystery birds:) Can you ID us? Photos

Looking for a positive bird ID ….. iridescent and pretty we are, but what are we called?

Last week a whole flock of different birds, robins and I’m guessing starlings, warblers and crackles visited our yard on their migration back up north.

One of them really caught my attention because of it’s iridescent feathers. They were all very fast, super skittish and not inclined to pose for me – so I hope you excuse the less then great photo.

I hope it’s good enough for a positive bird ID – I’m leaning toward calling it a European Starling, based on the photo in my Florida bird book, but Richard thinks it may be a Common Crackle.

What do you think?

I included this photo because you can see the speckles a little better.

Here is my only semi-decent shot.

The second mystery bird I came across yesterday, doesn’t really match exactly with any of the pics in my Florida bird book (the ones that look similar have a longer beak or yellow eyes).

Still, based on my book I think it may be an American Crow.

What do you think?

I’ve decided to place a bird feeder or two outside, just haven’t decided on a location yet. It has to be somewhere where I can take pictures, the kitties can’t get to and the birds feel safe and welcome.

Anyway – thanks for looking and let me know the names of these two beauties.
