NAACP demands justice for Trayvon Martin

The NAACP–along with millions of other Americans–wants justice for Trayvon Martin. That’s why the organization is about to hand over petitions with more than a million signatures to the Department of Justice. The organization’s president Ben Jealous believes that this will encourage the DOJ to take action against George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the murder of the 17-year-old unarmed teenager.

The mass public still hasn’t forgotten about Trayvon. That was made quite clear during the recent 50th anniversary MLK March on Washington. The slain teen’s name became symbolic with the speeches given at the monumental event, which was snubbed by every single republican that was invited to attend. Trayvon’s mother spoke at the event, expressing her heartbreaking sentiment as the mother of a slain child in what many believe to be an act of racial prejudice.

Will there ever be justice for Trayvon Martin? The NAACP demands it along with at least 1.7 million Americans who signed the petitions. It’s hopeful that the DOJ will continue with their investigation of George Zimmerman, and with luck there could be federal prosecution.
