NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis had an on-time launch at 2:20PM Eastern today, and is now officially in orbit.Â The shuttle launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Atlantis ST-132 is the final mission planned for the Atlantis spacecraft. On the 12-day mission, the six Atlantis astronauts will be headed to the International Space Station to, â€œleaving behind a Russian Mini Research Module, a set of batteries for the station’s truss and dish antenna, along with other replacement parts,â€ according to the NASA website.

The crew is made up entirely of Shuttle veterans, Pilot Tony Antonelli, and Mission Specialists Michael Good, Garrett Reisman, Piers Sellers and Steve Bowen, and is being commanded by astronaut Ken Ham.
