National Pet Week
According to the petweek.org “National Pet Week was founded in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Auxiliary to the AVMA, and is widely celebrated throughout the United States and other parts of the world. In 2010, National Pet Week is celebrated from May 2-8.” This year’s theme is “Pets & People Healthy Together”Â
National Pet Week purpose is to “promote responsible pet ownership, celebrate the human-animal bond, and promote public awareness of veterinary medicine.”
At petweek.org you can find many resources that help promote their cause, from lesson plans for teachers, and ways to get involved locally. As a lover of animals, myself, I am extremely excited to learn about more ways I can get involved and support animals.Â
