NBA Rumors: Amar’e Stoudemire Fine With Coming Off Bench for New York Knicks?

NBA rumors have Amar’e Stoudemire bring on the New York Knicks bench. For a guy making $100 million over a five-year contract, it’s a bit surprising that he would be all right with this, but maybe Stoudemire is finally ready to really start winning some games.

Stoudemire still hasn’t played this season after suffering an injury in the preseason. It has forced the Knicks to try some different things, including sliding Carmelo Anthony over to the power forward position a lot. The team has been winning a lot of games as well, currently holding a 10-4 record.

This is a tough position for coach Mike Woodson to be placed in, especially because Stoudemire can be a great player when he is “on.” Last season, he ended up averaging 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and around a block per game. Those are certainly respectable numbers, so it stands to reason that he could still play well in the starting lineup.

An official announcement has not come from the team about whether Amar’e Stoudemire will start or come off the bench though. This has led to many NBA rumors about his spot with the team, including several trade rumors indicating the New York Knicks might simply want to dump his contract. The thought of Stoudemire coming off the bench certainly seems like a way to make the team even deeper.

Do you think that Stoudemire should start or play with the second unit in New York? Is the combination of Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony good enough to win an NBA title?
