NBA Rumors – Shannon Brown to Chicago Bulls?

Chicago is looking to move veteran NBA player Rip Hamilton, and the need for a replacement is necessary, especially if this team wants to compete until Derrick Rose returns from injury.

The latest rumor from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune has the team looking to move Hamilton’s $5 million contract this summer. If the front office can find a buyer, look for Shannon Brown to become the newest Bull.

Brown is a very athletic shooting guard who is better known for his dunks and defense, but last year, the 26-year-old averaged 11 points and 2.7 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action each night for the Phoenix Suns. Brown has already played six seasons in the league and has averaged 7.7 points per game, but given more minutes could see his numbers increase to 12-15 points per game.

Chicago is known for tough defense, and the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers is very good on that end of the floor, but he also can score enough points to help this team offensively and is a much younger player than Hamilton—that could give the Bulls some depth for several NBA seasons.

Look for Chicago to continue the search for help offensively this summer, but adding Brown would give them a player that fits their style and someone who could help keep this team competitive until their All-Star point guard returns next season.
