Boris Diaw is the latest NBA player to want out of his current situation, and the veteran forward has burnt his bridges in Charlotte. The Bobcats have officially put the unhappy 29-year-old on the trading block and it won’t cost teams much to take him off their hands.
The latest from Bleacher Report has the LA Lakers as the front-runner to acquire Diaw as the team has struggled with bench play this season without Lamar Odom. The Lakers added Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy, but they are both averaging less than five points per game and have shown little to help on the defensive end of the court.
Diaw is averaging just eight points this season, but a change of scenery could have him back to the double-digit range he showed right after he was traded to Charlotte. Diaw is a decent rebounder, but add him to the mix of Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol and the pressure is off and he can go back to just playing basketball.
The Lakers biggest need is point guard, but the bench play has been less than stellar this season and if the team wants to make a run at another NBA title, moves need to happen before the trade deadline as this team doesn’t have a strong enough roster to compete for a championship this year.
