The NBA trade deadline is about three weeks away and the hottest player on the trading block this season could have a new team interested in his services.

Dwight Howard has seen his name associated with several teams as the All-Star center has been the center of trade rumors since the beginning of the year, and now it seems that the Philadelphia 76ers have thrown their hat in the ring and could look to add the big man to their roster.

Philly has several youngsters they could use in a trade with Orlando and the room under the salary cap to make such a deal work. The 76ers lead the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference with a 20-14 mark, but adding Howard would make this team a true contender for a spot in the NBA Finals.

The team entered the All-Star break losing their last five games and there is no reason to believe that a deal couldn’t happen. Howard told SLAM that he would welcome the opportunity to play with 76ers forward Andre Iguodala and that has led to the recent trade rumors.

Orlando will likely wait until the last-minute to make a trade, and a number of teams are expected to make an offer; but Howard will need to sign an extension and that could limit the number of teams that have a legitimate shot at making a deal before the trade deadline next month.
